BBB 2008 Rally Photos.

Posted in BBB News on September 30th, 2008 by BBQ Biker

This year the fine folks over at NWA Photography took tons of shots of all of the rally’s events.  These guys did an amazing job of documenting what went on at this year’s rally.  Several people have been asking us how they can get photos of this year’s rally.  Well, NWA Photography has placed all of the photos that they took for us on their web site.  On their site you will find pictures of everything from bikes cruising Dickson, the BBQ competition, live music pics, and plenty of pics of the Babe competition.  If you would like to check out some of their photos, or even buy prints of the photos check out their web site.

The 2008 Rally Was a Huge Success!

Posted in BBB News on September 30th, 2008 by BBQ Biker

Well, the 9th annual Bikes, Blues & BBQ motorcycle rally has come and gone. This year’s rally had one of the largest turn outs ever and some of the coolest events to date.  Some awesome, FREE live music was played on two stages throughout the rally.  Friday’s Allman Brothers Band concert was fantastic.  The band played for a solid two hours and sounded awesome.

Friday’s Tyson People’s Choice BBQ competition was also a huge success.  All 3,000 tickets were sold.  There were 31 teams competing and the winner was “Pit 4 A King” of Springdale, AR.  There were 44 teams that competed in the KCBS BBQ Cook-Off and the winner was “Pellet Envy” from Leawood, KS.  Not only are they the KCBS Champion but they are also crowned as the Arkansas State BBQ Champion.  They will be going to the KCBS World Championships next week in Kansas, City. This is a really big deal.

Saturday there were 50 contestants in the Stokes Air Battle of the Bikes sponsored by Cycle Connection.  The winner was John Wabaunsee from Pineville, MO with a 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King.  John then battled the 2007 Winner Johnnie Taylor from Fort Worth, TX. Johnnie has a 1995 Sportster named “Warpaint.” Johnnie successfully defended her Bikes, Blues & BBQ Battle of the Bikes Overall Championship on the Main Stage Saturday night.  She will be back again next year to defend her title.

Overall, the rally was a huge success.  There were tons of bikes here in Northwest Arkansas and the weather was perfect.  We hope you all had a great time and will be back to enjoy more great Bikes, Blues & BBQ at the 10th anniversary of the rally next year.  We will continue to post new info on the blog as it comes in from this year.  Thanks again for another awesome rally!

Thursday was once again another awesome day of Bikes, Blues & BBQ.  Thousands of people filled the Dickson Street area and the Randal Tyson Track Center. There was another great day and night of live music on both the main stage on Dickson and the Jagermeister stage at the Tyson Track Center.  It all continues today with even more great events.

The Tyson Foods People’s Choice BBQ competition will be held this evening at 6:30 at the BBQ area of the Baum Stadium parking lot.  This is your chance to sample some awesome BBQ and cast your vote for who you think is the best.  But get there early, because only 3,000 judging kits are available.  The kits will contain everything you need to sample this awesome BBQ and vote for your favorite.  Kits are $5 and the proceeds go to local charities.  All of the meat for this competition has been generously furnished by Tyson foods and all of the judging materials have been provided by Sam’s Club.

The Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame Allman Brothers Band will also be performing this evening.  The show starts at 8:00 pm at the Randal Tyson Track Center and the doors open at 6:00 pm.  Tickets are still available and  can be purchased at Sound Warehouse in Fayetteville or at the BBB headquarters at the Walton Arts Center on Dickson.  Don’t miss this amazing show.  Of course there will be plenty of other live music for free at the main stage on Dickson and the Jagermeister stage at the Randal Tyson Track Center.  For more information on the music, visit the Blues section.

Tonight will be the final preliminary round of the Miss BBB Babe contest at George’s Majestic on Dickson.  Ladies, come down and enter for your chance to win $100 and the chance to move on to tomorrow’s finals where the first place winner will take home $2,000 and a 1 year modeling contract with Stage 28 Talent and Casting.

There’s still tons more to come!  Check out the BBB event calendar for the complete schedule.

Well, that was fun…

Posted in BBB News on September 25th, 2008 by Deebs

Well, if the first night of the 2008 Bikes, Blues & BBQ is any indication, this rally is going to be the best ever.

Vendors, Police, and everyone I talked to said that last night was the biggest Wednesday turn out in event history. We have more vendors here than ever before. Union Reaux, Ocie & the Hip Dogs and The Gary Hutchinson Trio rocked the mainstage last night in a big way. The whole city smells like delicious BBQ and the beer in the beer gardens was flowing like, um, beer.

By all indications, a good time was had by all.

Check out the event calendar for all the great stuff happening today and tonight at BBB, and don’t forget to text BBB to 79704 to get the text updates about the rally. It’s a great way to keep up with what is going on instantly on your mobile phone. We’d have for you to miss any of the awesome things going on at Bikes, Blues & BBQ! See you tonight. Ride safe.

New to Bikes, Blues & BBQ in 2008

Posted in BBB News on September 24th, 2008 by Deebs

It’s hard to believe, but Bikes, Blues & BBQ 2008 starts today. Every year, we try to make the rally better than the one before. Here are just some of the things about this years rally that we think are going to make it the best yet.

The Blues Train: This year, getting around the rally will be easier than ever thanks to the Bikes, Blues & BBQ Blues Train. The train will run from Dickson St. to the Tyson Track Center, the two main event venues, approximately every thirty minutes. You can board the train between George’s and Powerhouse Seafood off Dickson St, and in the lot Across from Baum Stadium near the Track center. A $10 wristband gets you unlimited train and shuttle rides for the entire 4 day event!

More Beer Gardens: This year, we’ve added two themed beer gardens down at the Tyson track center so no one will go thirsty. Visit the Saloon, and the Biker Bar in the Baum Stadium lot, and the BBQ contest lot across the street. You can also relax in an air conditioned beer garden inside the track center. There will also be the beer garden down by the Mainstage to relax in where you can enjoy some great music.

Texas-Arkansas Game The Texas-Arkansas football game rescheduled for this weekend will be shown on the jumbotron at the track center.

Secured Motorcycle Parking: For the first time, Bikes, Blues & BBQ and the Fayetteville FOP will offer secured motorcycle parking. Check the Rally info section for maps on where to park your bike. (click on the links at the right)

This is just a sampling of what we have in store for this year’s rally. We can’t believe it’s finally here. Have a great time, and let’s ride!

Got Parking?

Posted in Bulletin Board on September 23rd, 2008 by Deebs

It’s rally week, and while there is no shortage of fun at Bikes, Blues & BBQ, with around 100,000 bikes in town this week, we do tend to run out of parking in a hurry.

New to Bikes, Blues & BBQ this year are two areas of secured Bike Parking, located on Dickson St. behind Hog Haus, and one down on Razorback Road after 5 on Friday, and over the weekend.

You can find maps for parking, attractions and more under the Rally info page, on the links to the right.

If anyone has any other info about parking, free, paid, or otherwise, please share it in the comments. Posts like this for sharing information will be listed here on the blog in the bulletin board category.

Let’s all Share the Road.

Posted in Bikes on September 19th, 2008 by BBQ Biker

During Bikes, Blues & BBQ there will be thousands of bikes on Arkansas roadways.  It is important as riders to be aware of our surroundings and remember that drivers of cars and trucks may not see you.   Since motorcycles are smaller in size, it is easy to be hidden in a car’s blind spots or hard to see due to cargo being carried in the vehicle. Stay out of blind spots, make sure they see you, and check your mirrors to make sure that you see them.

The traffic during the rally can get pretty congested especially around College Ave., the Dickson St. area, 6th St. and Razorback Rd. near the track center.  When riding in Fayetteville, take an extra moment to thoroughly check traffic, whether you’re changing lanes or turning at intersections. We would also ask that as you are at the rally, if you choose to drink, do so responsibly and don’t drink and ride.  There will be taxis readily available to make sure you get home safe if you’ve had too much to drink.

It is our intention that everyone attending the rally has a great time and a safe riding experience. That being said, there are some important local laws and legal information that will keep all of our visitors riding on the right side of the law.  Check out the Laws & Legal section for info on state helmet laws and noise ordinances relating to motorcycle sound.
