Bikes, Blues & BBQ Announces Charity Donations

Posted in BBB News on November 18th, 2009 by BBQ Biker

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., November 16, 2009 – Bikes, Blues & BBQ announced today the 2009 charity donation recipients at a special celebration at the Town Center in Fayetteville.

“Charities have been hit extremely hard over the last two years with their funds straining to keep up with the needs of so many in our community. That is why we are extremely excited about our ability this year to provide a total of $48,500 in donations to 33 charities,” said Kenneth Mourton, Chairman of Bikes, Blues & BBQ.

The charities were selected first from those requesting funding in 2008. After their requests were satisfied, Bikes, Blues & BBQ selected recipients from this year’s submissions.

“This has been a tremendous year for the rally. Not only were we able to retire our debt from 2008, we were also able to pay all of this year’s expenses and get back to delivering on our promise of providing funds to local charities,” said Nelson Driver, Executive Director of Bikes, Blues & BBQ.

The rally is the largest in the country of those that give money to charities.

“We are finishing our 10th Anniversary rally with a bang and are well positioned for next year,” added Mourton. The 2010 Bikes, Blues & BBQ rally is scheduled for September 29 – October 2.

Bikes, Blues & BBQ Announces Bikes, Babes & Bling

Posted in BBB News, Babes & Bling on November 18th, 2009 by BBQ Biker

Bikes, Babes and Bling

Bikes, Blues & BBQ formally announced today plans to host the South’s first motorcycle rally that focuses on women. Bikes, Babes & Bling will be on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. Rally dates are July 1 – 3, 2010.

“This is an exciting new endeavor for Bikes, Blues & BBQ. In the past five years, there has been significant growth - approximately 35% - in the market of female motorcycle riders. Since the majority of the nation’s rallies are tailored for the male biker, we feel that we can and should offer an experience that caters to women,” said Allyson Twiggs Dyer, board member for Bikes, Blues & BBQ.

“This rally will offer Fayetteville great exposure as a forward-thinking community. We also believe this will provide a significant impact to Fayetteville by bringing visitors into the area that will stay in our hotels and enjoy our restaurants during what would normally be a slow time of the year,” said Coleson Burns, Event Director for Bikes, Babes & Bling.

Proceeds from Bikes, Babes & Bling will be used to fund local charities that focus on women and children.

About Bikes, Babes & Bling: Bikes, Babes & Bling is the sister rally of Bikes, Blues & BBQ that focuses on providing women a safe and fun experience where they can come together to share their love of motorcycles and riding.

Jeff & Nikki Schwarz from Sheldon, Iowa, picked up their brand new 2009 Harley-Davidson Crossbones at Cycle Connection in Joplin, Mo on Saturday morning.  The weather was perfect just like the bike.  Our thanks to the tri-state Harley-Davidson dealers (Cycle Connection, Myers Duren and Pig Trail) for their generous donation of the bike again this year. This raffle helps BBB raise money for charity.  By the way, Jeff & Nikki won with only $20 worth of tickets…not bad!

The 10th Anniversary Rally Was A Blast!

Posted in BBB News on September 30th, 2009 by BBQ Biker

This year hundreds of thousands of people made their way to Northwest Arkansas to enjoy the best in riding, music and barbeque.

Over the last ten years we have seen the rally grow from a small poker run to one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the country. This year the rally extended from Fort Smith to Rogers and over to Eureka Springs. From the Randal Tyson Track Center in south Fayetteville to Dickson Street and up to the Northwest Arkansas Mall where Bikes, Blues & Hot Rods Too made it’s debut this year.

As you probably know at Bikes, Blues & BBQ we promise to conduct a safe, fun and family-friendly motorcycle rally and are dedicated to providing funding to local charities. We are currently in the process of paying off the rally costs and should be able announce our charitable donations within the next month.

In the meantime, check out the 2009 photo gallery. It has some great pictures and links to hundreds more. Also, you can still get the “Official” 2009 patches, pins and t-shirts at the online stores.
